Overview

To make your model of the Oshkosh HEMTT M977/M983 even more realistic, we’ve created highly detailed 3D-printed 16.00R20 replacement wheel sets, available with two different tire types:

  • XL 16.00R20 Tires — faithfully reproducing the distinctive tread and sidewall details of the XL tire pattern;
  • XZL 16.00R20 Tires — featuring the characteristic tread pattern and appearance of the XZL tire.

Each tire type is available in two versions:

  • Ordinary Wheels — for a clean, balanced appearance of your model;
  • Weighted Wheels — featuring realistic tire deformation at the contact points for a naturally weighted appearance.

During development, we studied original photographs, technical documentation, and reference materials to accurately reproduce the proportions, tread patterns, sidewall details, and characteristic features of both tire types.

Thanks to high-resolution photopolymer 3D printing, every wheel offers crisp detailing, sharp edges, and precision far beyond what standard plastic kit parts can provide.

The wheel sets are designed for Trumpeter and Italeri kits in 1/35 scale, giving you the option to choose between two distinctive tire patterns and either a standard or realistically weighted appearance for your Oshkosh HEMTT M977/M983 model.

Oshkosh HEMTT — Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck

The Oshkosh HEMTT (Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck) is a family of heavy-duty 8×8 military trucks developed by Oshkosh Defense for the transportation of troops, equipment, ammunition, fuel, and other heavy loads. Introduced in the 1980s, the HEMTT was designed to provide high mobility and reliable operation in demanding military environments.

Built around a robust 8×8 chassis, the HEMTT family includes numerous specialized configurations developed for different logistical and support roles. The M977 is a cargo truck equipped with a large cargo body, while the M983 serves as a tractor truck for transporting heavy trailers and semi-trailers. Other variants include fuel tankers, wreckers, and other specialized support vehicles.

With its powerful engine, all-wheel drive, substantial ground clearance, and large off-road tires, the HEMTT provides excellent mobility across difficult terrain while carrying heavy payloads. Its standardized chassis and wide range of configurations have made it an important part of U.S. military logistics and a familiar sight in military operations around the world.

Wheels installation

The wheels are designed to fit directly onto the standard mounting points of IBG kits without any additional modifications.
We recommend sanding the contact points where supports were attached with fine-grit sandpaper for the best finish.
