3D-Printed PIRELLI 270-20 Wheel Set for Sd.Kfz. 234 Puma by Dragon, Miniart, RFM, Italeri, AK Interactive 1/35 Scale

To enhance the realism of your Sd.Kfz. 234 Puma armored car model in 1/35 scale, we have developed a series of highly detailed 3D-printed wheel sets that accurately reproduce the characteristic 270-20 tires used on these well-known German heavy armored cars.
The wheels were designed using a wide range of reference materials and historical photographs, allowing us to precisely replicate the correct proportions, wheel construction, sidewall textures, and distinctive tread patterns of different tire manufacturers.
The series includes four historically accurate tire variants:
- v1 — EXTRA GELANDE 270-20
- v2 — GELANDE 270-20
- v3 — DEKA 270-20
- v4 — PIRELLI 270-20
Each variant is available in two versions:
- Ordinary — for a clean, balanced appearance and a factory-style stance
- Weighted — to reproduce the vehicle’s weight and the natural deformation of the tires
This allows modelers to choose the most suitable option for a specific build or diorama scene.
High Level of Detail and Accurate Geometry
Each wheel was created based on a careful analysis of historical photographs, technical materials, and preserved examples, allowing us to accurately reproduce:
- the correct 270-20 tire profile and characteristic tread pattern
- precise wheel geometry
- realistic rim and hub proportions
- fine sidewall textures and surface details
- clean mounting areas for easy installation on the model
Thanks to high-resolution resin 3D printing, the wheels feature sharply defined tread patterns, crisp edges, and finely rendered surface details, significantly surpassing the standard injection-molded plastic parts found in most kits.
The wheels are easy to paint, respond well to weathering techniques, and integrate naturally into dioramas — whether representing factory-fresh vehicles or machines heavily used in field conditions.
Compatibility
These wheel sets are designed for Sd.Kfz. 234 Puma models in 1/35 scale from the following manufacturers:
- MiniArt
- Dragon
- Rye Field Model (RFM)
- AK Interactive
- Italeri
They are suitable for various versions of the Sd.Kfz. 234 family and can be used for both display models and diorama projects.
Sd.Kfz. 234 — One of the Most Famous German Armored Cars of World War II
The Sd.Kfz. 234 family of armored cars was developed for German reconnaissance units during the final years of World War II. These vehicles were known for their high speed, good cross-country mobility, and distinctive eight-wheel drive configuration.
The most famous version was the Sd.Kfz. 234/2 “Puma”, equipped with a turret mounting a 50 mm gun. The armored car was used for reconnaissance missions, convoy escort, and fast maneuver operations.
During production, tires from different manufacturers with varying tread patterns were used, providing additional possibilities for historically accurate representation in scale models.
Wheel Installation
This wheel set is designed for compatibility with Sd.Kfz. 234 Puma kits from several manufacturers.
MiniArt and RFM
The wheels fit directly onto the standard mounting points of MiniArt and RFM kits without modification.
Dragon and AK Interactive
Before installing the wheels:
- Either reduce the diameter of the mounting pins on parts D18/D19 to 3.95 mm
- Or drill out the wheel hole from 3.95 mm to 4.15–4.20 mm
Italeri
- Before installation, remove the end tip of the axle mounting point of the 6A/7A parts
- Use the included adapters to install the wheels
Notes
- The wheel design preserves the correct offset of the real vehicle; adapters do not affect wheel position.
- Test fit all parts before final assembly.
- For best results, sand the support attachment points with fine-grit sandpaper.
