3D-Printed Wheel Set (Sagged and Ordinary) for M198 Howitzer by Trumpeter

To make your M198 towed howitzer model by Trumpeter look as realistic as possible, we have created a high-detail 3D-printed wheels set that includes both ordinary wheels and sagged (weighted) wheels in one box.
This combination allows you to accurately represent the weight of the artillery system and achieve a correct stance in both transport and firing positions — especially effective in dioramas.
All components are designed based on real prototypes. During development, we carefully studied reference photos, available drawings, and technical documentation to accurately reproduce:
- tire tread pattern
- sidewall shape and surface relief
- wheel rim geometry and proportions
- natural tire deformation in the Sagged version
High-resolution photopolymer 3D printing ensures sharp geometry, deep tread detail, and a level of fidelity that significantly exceeds standard kit-supplied wheels.
The wheels are easy to paint, respond well to weathering techniques, and integrate naturally into any M198 model.
This set is a noticeable upgrade that enhances both the technical accuracy and visual realism of your M198 howitzer.
M198 — American Towed Howitzer
The 155 mm M198 howitzer was developed in the United States during the 1970s and for many years served as the primary heavy towed artillery system of the U.S. Army and Marine Corps. It combined long firing range, high accuracy, and relatively good mobility for a weapon of its class.
The M198 saw extensive service in late 20th- and early 21st-century conflicts and was adopted by several armed forces worldwide. Its reliability, firepower, and versatility made it an important milestone in modern artillery development.
Wheel installation
The set includes ordinary and sagged wheels as an option for installing on the model according to your preferred configuration:
- Ordinary wheels = Combat position
- Sagged wheels = Transport position
The wheels can be mounted on the standard attachment points of parts of Trumpeter kits without any additional modifications.
We recommend sanding the support contact points with fine-grit sandpaper.
