Kontakt-1 ERA – Resin 3D-Printed Set for 1:72 Scale Models
Add maximum realism to your armored vehicle builds with this Kontakt-1 Explosive Reactive Armor (ERA) set, created using high-resolution 3D printing with photopolymer resin. This type of dynamic protection was widely used on Soviet and post-Soviet tanks, including the T-64BV, T-72B, T-80U, BMP-2, as well as on many modern upgrades.
Each set includes:
- 120 flat blocks (standard)
- 30 sloped blocks
This is enough to fully recreate the armor coverage on the hull and turret of most combat vehicles in 1:35 or 1:72 scale. You can either model a complete ERA layout or replicate selective coverage with missing or damaged blocks for a more battle-worn look.
The set is available in two scales — 1:35 for highly detailed builds, and 1:72 for fans of compact yet precise model formats.
It’s a perfect upgrade for kits from Trumpeter, Revell, ICM, and other popular brands — ideal for building authentic replicas of vehicles from real-world conflict zones and historical operations.
Kontakt-1 — The Iconic Dynamic Armor of Soviet Tanks
The Kontakt-1 system was developed in the Soviet Union during the 1980s in response to the increasing effectiveness of shaped-charge munitions. It became the first mass-produced type of explosive reactive armor installed directly on the hull and turret of combat vehicles.
Its principle is simple yet effective: each ERA block contains an explosive insert that detonates upon impact, disrupting the shaped-charge jet before it can penetrate the main armor. The system was first widely used in Afghanistan and later appeared in every major conflict involving Soviet and post-Soviet armor — including the current war in Ukraine.
Kontakt-1 blocks have become a visual hallmark of modernized tanks from the late Cold War era and the post-Soviet period.
