9K79 Tochka (SS-21 Scarab) — Soviet Tactical Ballistic Missile System

The 9K79 Tochka (NATO reporting name: SS-21 Scarab) is a Soviet short-range tactical ballistic missile system developed in the 1970s to provide highly mobile precision strike capability on the battlefield. Mounted on a dedicated wheeled transporter-erector-launcher (TEL), the system was designed for rapid deployment and quick launch operations.

Its 6×6 amphibious chassis, high mobility, and autonomous navigation equipment enabled the launcher to operate effectively across difficult terrain while maintaining excellent cross-country performance.

The Tochka system was capable of delivering conventional, cluster, or specialized warheads against command posts, airfields, artillery positions, and other high-value tactical targets at ranges exceeding 100 kilometers.

Remaining in service with numerous armed forces for decades, the 9K79 Tochka became one of the most recognizable Soviet tactical missile systems and continues to be an important subject for military vehicle enthusiasts and scale modelers.

Wheel installation

The wheels fit directly onto the standard mounting points of the Hobby Boss kits without modification.
We recommend lightly sanding the support contact areas with fine-grit sandpaper for best results.
