3D-Printed Wheel Set (Sagged) for VW Type 82 “Kübelwagen” by Meng and Tamiya

To make your Kübelwagen Type 82 model truly convincing, we conducted a deep study of the original wheels used on this light military vehicle — analyzing photos, technical drawings, and reference samples. This allowed us to recreate them with maximum accuracy: every detail, curve, and imperfection mirrors the real thing.

3D printing enables a level of detail that’s simply not possible with traditional rubber wheels. The result? A significantly more realistic look on your finished model — lifelike presence, the visual weight and mass of real tires, and superbly detailed treads and sidewalls.

This isn’t just a parts swap — it’s a new level of realism that transforms your model into a true miniature replica of the original German light transporter.

Spare Wheel

The Kübelwagen’s spare wheel is mounted on the hood. The model accurately reproduces the three bolts used to secure the wheel in place.

Volkswagen Kübelwagen — German WWII Light Military Vehicle

The Volkswagen Type 82 Kübelwagen was a lightweight utility vehicle designed by Ferdinand Porsche for the Wehrmacht, based on the Volkswagen Beetle platform. Thanks to its low weight (725 kg), simple construction, and rear-wheel drive, the Kübelwagen performed well off-road. Its air-cooled engine and low fuel consumption made it reliable and practical for field conditions.

During World War II, it became the German counterpart to the American Jeep Willys and was widely used across all fronts.

Wheel Installation

The wheels are installed without any modifications onto the standard mounting points:

  • For Meng kits — parts A31 and A29
  • For Tamiya kits — parts B27 and B17

We recommend gently sanding the support contact points with fine-grit sandpaper for best results.
