Horch 108 — German Heavy Personnel and Reconnaissance Vehicle
The Horch 108 was a family of German heavy military vehicles developed for the Wehrmacht during the Second World War. Based on the Horch Type 108 chassis, these vehicles were designed primarily for personnel transport, reconnaissance, command, and general military duties. The robust 4×4 platform provided the mobility and durability required for operation across a wide range of terrain and battlefield conditions.
Produced by Horch, a division of Auto Union, the Type 108 was powered by a large eight-cylinder gasoline engine and featured four-wheel drive, independent suspension, and a high ground clearance. The combination of a powerful engine and capable four-wheel-drive system made the vehicle well suited to military service, while its relatively spacious body allowed it to carry personnel and equipment.
The Horch 108 was produced in several configurations and underwent a number of changes during its production run. Differences in chassis equipment, body details, and wheel designs can be found between various production versions, making accurate identification of individual vehicles particularly interesting for historians and scale modelers. The v1 and v2 wheel configurations represented by these sets correspond to different wheel disc designs used on the Horch 108.
Horch 108 vehicles saw extensive service with German military units throughout the Second World War. They were employed in a variety of roles, including personnel transport, reconnaissance, command duties, and as platforms for specialized equipment. Their four-wheel-drive chassis and relatively high mobility made them valuable vehicles for units operating away from established roads.
With its distinctive high-clearance 4×4 chassis, powerful eight-cylinder engine, and numerous configurations, the Horch 108 remains one of the recognizable German military vehicles of the Second World War. Its combination of mechanical complexity, distinctive bodywork, and variations between production versions makes it a particularly interesting subject for detailed scale modeling.
Wheel installation
The wheels are designed to fit directly onto the standard mounting points of ICM and Tamiya kits without any additional modifications.
We recommend sanding the contact points where supports were attached with fine-grit sandpaper for the best finish.
